Seriana renews its support for OlivaMi: 100 olive trees adopted, 1 hectare regenerated and 7 tonnes of CO₂ offset

In 2025, Seriana S.p.A. chose to join the project for the reforestation of the Salento countryside damaged by Xylella through OlivaMi, an association created to contribute to the regeneration of Salento’s olive groves, supporting the local area, local farmers and the protection of the agricultural landscape.

Following the first experience, which allowed the Seriana team to gain a closer understanding of the value of the project and to taste the extra virgin olive oil produced in this land, the company has decided to renew its commitment again this year.

The Seriana S.p.A. Grove: tangible figures for the local area

Through The Seriana S.p.A. Grove, the company contributes to the regeneration of the Salento area with measurable results:

100 olive trees adopted
1 hectare of land regenerated
2 farmers supported
7 tonnes of CO₂ offset

The initiative is part of a broader commitment to the local area and sustainability, with the aim of supporting a region severely affected by the Xylella bacterium, which in recent years has damaged large olive-growing areas across Salento.

Certified offsetting through Carborea

In addition to adopting the olive trees, Seriana has offset 7 tonnes of CO₂e through the purchase of carbon credits generated by new plantings in Salento’s olive groves.

The credits are tracked in the Carborea registry and generated according to a certified methodology for calculating, monitoring and verifying greenhouse gas reductions or removals.

The offsetting certificate confirms that the project has been validated in compliance with the international standard ISO 14064-2 and verified by an independent third party, ensuring the transparency, traceability, additionality and permanence of the credits.

A gesture shared with the team as well

The project also had an internal dimension: each member of the Seriana team received 1 litre of extra virgin olive oil, produced in support of the Salento area.

A simple and tangible way to share the value of the initiative within the company, bringing the result of a project that combines environmental regeneration, agricultural support and care for local communities into everyday company life.

A commitment aligned with Seriana’s path as a Benefit Corporation

Since 2024, Seriana has been a Benefit Corporation, integrating actions aimed at generating value for people, the local area and the environment into its corporate path.

The collaboration with OlivaMi represents one part of this commitment: an initiative that goes beyond environmental offsetting, contributing to the regeneration of a fragile territory, the support of local farmers and the enhancement of a distinctive agricultural supply chain.
